"Defender II (USA) (Alternate)" seems to be the same game as "Stargate (USA)" (https://datomatic.no-intro.org/index.php?page=show_record&s=88&n=0457).
I was curious about this ROM since it isn't available on Myrient yet, and then reading about it here http://www.8-bitcentral.com/reviews/2600defender2.html I learned Stargate was the original release, and Defender II was just another release of the same game.

Assuming the current hashes are correct, each title's are unique though, so I don't think any changes are needed.

Ah if you just mean the parent/clone relationship, that makes sense. I could see that getting an update. I'm not sure which is preferred as the parent though.
